Abstract

Title:Contact Karst of Slavenski Ravnik
Abstract:
Contact karst is a unique type of landscape evolution which takes place when a contact between a karstic and a non-karstic surface has been established. The researched area covers the ponor contact karst of Slavenski ravnik, where the river affluents from the flysch Pivka formed a string of three blind valleys. Ivačevci and Bešivci are fossil blind valleys with no active sinking river that would disappear at the end of the valley, whereas Sajevško polje is the only active blind valley on Slavenski ravnik with a sinking river and a well-developed cave system. All geomorphic features that are typical of the contact karst occur within the area: caves, periodic karst springs, estavelles, collapse dolines and corrosion terraces. The final seminar paper aims to provide a comprehensive geomorphic analysis of the contact karst and the accompanying features on Slavenski ravnik, as well as create a geomorphological map of the studied area.
