The purpose of the graduation thesis is to introduce MXene, family of 2D materials, with broad application. The document begins with definition of MXenes and their properties. The remaining introduction chapters outline current production techniques, with an emphasis on the top down synthesis method, which is to date the most researched used method of production. Commercial use of the described materials is currently not available, mostly because of economy of the production.
The remainder of the thesis describes the application of MXenes in multiple areas, such as energy storage, sensors and membrane separation. MXenes are usually used in composites, because their stand-alone use is currently too expensive or not explored enough. In its conclusion, the thesis presents positive expectations of a wide range of MXenes usage in different areas.
