Abstract
Diplomsko delo obravnava potrebe in stiske bodočih staršev v času prve nosečnosti.

Title:Support to future parents during the first pregnancy
Abstract:
This diploma thesis deals with the needs and distress of parents to be during their first pregnancy. The time of the first pregnancy brings an important turning point in the life of every individual. I wanted to explore the period of family planning and the period of the first pregnancy. I was interested in the obstacles that future parents encounter, how they experience the parental role during this time and what are the important support factors in this period. I also examined the role of social work and tried to make a comparison between the experiences of fathers and the experiences of mothers. In order to obtain information, I conducted a qualitative research involving 12 parents, 6 mothers, and 6 fathers who in 2017 or later became parents for the first time. Data was obtained through interviews. The results showed that important factors for family planning are own apartment and financial security. Interlocutors did not encounter major obstacles during pregnancy; consequently, they were satisfied with the received support and assistance. Their biggest concern was the child's health. The greatest needs were the need for information on the care and nursing of the baby, the course of the pregnancy and the course of the birth. These data were mostly obtained from parenting classes, which were the only and the most important source of formal support. To the future parents the informal support of their loved ones is much more important. They were not burdened with parental role during pregnancy. It was reported that social work in this period is included only through the exercise of parental right. But most parents to be would also like social workers to be included in the parenting classes.
