The Diploma Thesis consists of the theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part presents, in greater detail, cultural heritage, cultural heritage in Slovenia, its legislation, interculturality, and the role of cultural heritage in teaching and educational processes. It also introduces youth literature, with more focus on picture books and the cultural heritage included in them.
The empirical part describes cultural heritage motifs in three selected picture books: Martin Krpan (1858) by Fran Levstik, illustrated by Tone Kralj and published by Mladinska knjiga in 1954; Kekec in botra Pehta (1922) by Josip Vandot, adapted by Andrej Rozman Roza, illustrated by Zvonko Čoh and published by Mladinska knjiga in 2011; Zdravljica (1844) by France Prešeren, illustrated by Damijan Stepančič and published by Mladinska knjiga in 2013.
Cultural heritage motifs in the selected picture books are presented in tables, both verbally and graphically, along with the differences between them, based on the literary theory of Marjana Kobe, and the occurrence of interculturality in the selected picture books. The total analysis is given in the form of answers to research questions.
