The purpose of the master's thesis is to present children with special needs, their inclusion in society and the educational process, to give a detailed presentation of ball games, and examples of teaching basketball, volleyball, football, and handball to children with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities, aged 9 to 12 years. With the help of these programs, children develop their motor skills, master the basic elements of ball games, gain self-confidence, learn the importance of cooperation, perseverance, and fighting spirit. Like so, we want to facilitate their training, which should be simple, but still effective. We also want children with special needs to be increasingly more involved in sports activities, adapting the exercises to each individual child, since only in this way do they gain motivation and realize that they are also capable of many things. We will thus be able to bring them closer to sports, which will represent relaxation, socializing, and fun.
With the examples of teaching ball games prepared in the master's thesis, we want to contribute to the help in compiling physical education programs for these children. Exercises and games are also intended for PE teachers, educators in school with an adapted education programme, and everyone else who performs various sports activities for children with special needs.
