Abstract
V teoretičnem delu sem opredelila obdobje mladostništva, v katerem so trenutno udeleženci moje raziskave, vplive spletnih omrežij in njihovo vlogo v vsakdanjem življenju mladih.

Title:
Social network in adolescents' everyday life
Abstract:
This master's thesis deals with the identification of the presence of social networks in the daily lives of young people and their role and usefulness. My main source were different studies that talk about the positive and negative role of the media. The positive one being communication with others, entertainment and information search, and the negative role a less favourable psychosocial development and neglect of physical relationships with peers. I wanted to give young people the opportunity to express, through essays, their experiences and opinions about the online social networks they use, their experiences of cyberbullying, addiction, and to find out what psychosocial distress they are experiencing and how they are coping. I was also interested what areas young people see as in need of more and more support, and where they are sufficiently helped in dealing with distress. In addition, I have touched on the role of parents and practitioners have when it comes to the topic of online social networks and the situations that arise in connection with them. The theoretical part begins with an introduction to adolescence, which is the period represented by the participants of the first target population I surveyed and social networks role in their everyday life. I continued with the psychosocial hardships that are increasingly occurring in young people and new wasy of violence. Finally, I wrote about the role of parents and other adults in dealing with this topic. The empirical part included 112 eighth and ninth grade elementary school pupils, namely, 58 girls and 54 boys. The sample included young people from primary schools in Ljubljana and Novo mesto. I used a qualitative research approach, and to obtain data I used an essay writing method and a group interview. I processed the data with qualitative content analysis. The results of the research are important because I have gained a deep insight into the different experiences of young people with online social networks and the role of online social networks in everyday life. The results can give educators a good starting point for preventative work as well as mitigating the negative aspects of the use of online social networks, as well as providing additional training and activities in this field.
