The thesis deals with strategic planning for a company as a basis for the development of woodworking industry in the Savinjska-Šaleška area. Its goal is to highlight the key strategic options for future development of woodworking industry in this area, and to present a basis of SWOT analysis, which can be used by any company regardless of the size of its business. A survey was carried out including 14 woodworking companies from the Savinjsko-Šaleška area. It shows that 78.6 % of companies have no strategic plan, about the same percentage of companies do not have the brand, and most of the products (78.6 %) belong to the segment of lower or middle value. We found out that most woodworking companies do not take advantage of above-average forest cover and the history of the woodworking industry in the area. Nevertheless, we believe that woodworking companies in the Savinjska-Šaleška area have a potential large enough for development, of course, taking into account the systematic approach of strategic planning
