Abstract
Rekreacija je po definiciji dejavnost, s katero se človek telesno in duševno sprosti in okrepi, kar so potrdili tudi moji sogovorniki. Pomemben vidik rekreacije je ohranjanje fizične kondicije in zdravja. Najpomembnejši del rekreacije je gibanje. Tai ji quan je postal svetovno znana oblika rekreacije, izvaja se lahko kjer koli, lahko v telovadnicah, parkih ali kar doma. Tai ji quan je nastal na Kitajskem v dinastiji Song v 12. stoletju kot borilna veščina. Tai ji quan se lahko učimo kot aplikativno borilno veščino, kot tudi preprosto obliko gibanja po prostoru. Kar ljudi največkrat privabi k učenju te veščine, je njegov zdravilni vidik. Dokazano je, da ima tai ji quan ogromno zdravilnih učinkov na sklepe, mišice, celo možgane in krvnožilni sistem. Ljudje imajo vadbo tai ji quana za rekreacijo, a nekaterim pomeni veliko več kot to. Velikokrat je pomembno samo druženje, navezovanje novih stikov in prijateljstev ter moč uporabe naučenih veščin v vsakdanjem življenju z izboljšanim ravnotežjem, večjim zavedanjem lastnega telesa in boljšim splošnim počutjem.

Title:Relations of Slovenes towards recreation: Tai ji more than recreation?
Abstract:
Recreation is, by definition, an activity by which a person is physically and mentally relaxed and strengthened. This was also confirmed by my interlocutors. An important aspect of recreation is maintaining physical fitness and health. The most important part of recreation is movement. Tai ji quan has become a world-renowned form of recreation, it can be practiced anywhere, whether in the gym, parks or at home. Tai ji quan originated in China in the Song Dynasty in the 12th century as a martial art. Tai ji quan can be learned as applied martial art as well as simple forms of movement around space. What most attracts people to learn this skill is its healing aspect. Tai ji quan has been shown to have tremendous healing effects on joints, muscles, even the brain and cardio-pulmonary function. People consider tai ji quan exercise as a recreation, but to some it means a lot more than that. Mostly it’s important for socializing, making new contacts and friendships, and being able to apply the learned skills to each day with improved balance, greater awareness of one's body, and better overall wellbeing.
