Abstract
Problematika psiholoških vidikov prekomerne uporabe mobilnih telefonov postaja vse bolj aktualna, saj mobilne naprave omogočajo takojšnjo zadovoljitev potreb po socialni potrditvi. Ti so zaradi svoje stopnje v razvoju najbolj ranljivi in vodljivi. V ta namen smo oblikovali tudi zloženko, s katero bomo v prihodnje dodatno informirali in osveščali učence, učitelje in starše o preučevani problematiki.

Title:Psychological aspects of excessive mobile phone use by second triad elementary school students
Abstract:
Psychological aspects of excessive mobile phone use are becoming increasingly more relevant. The use of mobile phones has been rapidly increasing in the last few years, especially among children and youths. However, there is not much research to be found on this topic in Slovenia. Many experts point out negative effects of mobile phones on children's mental and physical health; excessive use can lead to an addiction also known as nomophobia. One of the psychological dangers of mobile phone overuse is also vulnerability to internet abuse. To prevent dangers, it is important for parents and teachers to talk with children and adolescents about it. The target group for our research were primary school students (fourth and fifth grade) from urban and rural Slovenian schools which in most cases use mobile phones. We used an online questionnaire to collect data on the extent and purpose of mobile phone use among students. When comparing the responses of students from urban and rural schools, we did not find major statistically significant differences. We found out most pupils get their first phone when they are eight years old, and use it most often to call their parents and to watch YouTube videos. Nearly none of the students ever uses phones during classes. Research shows that most students use phones sparingly and that only a few pupils see mobile phones as a status symbol. Most of those who answered the questionnaire have also already heard about how to use phones safely by their parents or teachers. Research also shows that most of the students use their phone moderately. Based on the collected results and as a part of this master degree we designed a workshop for fourth and fifth grade students about how to use mobile phones safely. We also created a leaflet based on the research to raise awareness among students, teachers, and parents in the future.
