The significance of lifelong learning, competence, motivation, reflection and evaluation is constantly giving emphasis to the kindergarten profession. Job crafting brings numerous positive effects at work, which is related to job engagement, job satisfaction and improvement of work tasks as well. The pedagogical worker, who self-initiatively designs his work, goes beyond the outlined frames, is highly motivated and seeks a path to give meaning to his work. An employee with such experience contributes to raising the quality in education. In the theoretical part, I defined the quality in education, competences and the professional development of the pedagogical workers, job crafting and commitment at work. Job crafting is a concept, which is completely unknown in Slovenia, but at the same time, being acquainted with the concept can have a significant impact on improving work experience of pedagogical workers and consequently, it raises the quality in education.
In the empirical part, I used the method of interviewing, to investigate the respondents’ opinion of the quality of the Slovenian education, how they evaluate their own work competence in education and how well are they acquainted with the concept of job crafting. I also investigated whether there are differences in the frequency of introducing job crafting according to the level of education and the respondents’ years of service. Furthermore, I was interested in the connection between the assessment of the respondents’ own competence and job crafting, what is the respondents’ opinion regarding the commitment at work, what is the connection between the job crafting and commitment at work and whether there is a connection between the commitment at work and the type of job that the respondents have. 221 pedagogical workers participated in the survey.
