For the youth, student work is a way of earning money, gaining various knowledge and experience. However, in addition to various advantages, it also brings disadvantages to young employees as well as employers. Who can perform work through the student service, what is the regulation of legislation and who are the intermediaries of student work, I will present below. In my diploma work, I wanted to investigate the extent to which students in the Analytical Sociology program work through the student service, what these works are like, and whether they relate to the field of study. I also focused on acquiring competencies; which competencies students acquire through education and which at the faculty and what importance they attach to them. I obtained this information with the help of two questionnaires completed by 3rd and 4th year students and students who have already attended the Analytical Sociology program in the past. The latter outlined the study issues very well; the program is mostly based on a theoretical level and does not focus on involving students in practices that would enable them to acquire job-specific competencies.
