The migrant crisis in Slovenia began in September 2015, more precisely in Brežice municipality, which borders Croatia. Brežice municipality was the most burdened during the crisis due to the mentioned location, which was the starting point for relocating migrants to the other accommodation centres in Slovenia and to the Austria border. This migrant crisis was a great challenge for Slovenia at the time, as it was necessary to act quickly and effectively at the same time. Accommodation for migrants, food, medical care, and border security had to be provided as soon as possible. Brežice municipality received more than five thousand migrants daily, under the supervision of Slovenian police officers and soldiers. Given the circumstances, the number of police officers and soldiers avaliable at the time, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia took appropriate measures and managed to contain the crisis in a relatively short time.
