The master’s thesis discusses the analysis of Franz Kafka’s short stories with animal themes and their possible correlation with Sigmund Freund’s The Interpretation of Dreams. It is based on a philological analysis of three short stories by Franz Kafka that have animals or animal hybrids as the main theme, as well as a psychoanalytical interpretation of the chosen texts based on Freund’s The Interpretation of Dreams, with special focus on condensation (Verdichtung) and displacement (Verschiebung) in the explanation of dreams and their possible connection with metaphors and metonymies in the interpretation of Kafka’s stories.
