The health of employees in the work environment is of key importance since only in this way they can perform their work successfully. Presenteeism can also be a phenomenon that can hinder employees from doing their job well. Presenteeism is defined as the presence of employees in the work environment despite illness, injury, or other health problems when it would be better for them to stay at home. Due to illness, injury or other health problems, employees in the work environment are unable to perform their work as they should, which can cost the organization more than if employees stayed at home in case of health problems, and may also extend the treatment of employees.
In this thesis we conducted a survey in order to study and analyze presenteeism among employees in primary schools in the primorsko-notranjska statistical region. The survey was conducted with the help of a questionnaire consisting of four content sets, which was provided to employees in management positions in all primary schools in the primorsko-notranjska statistical region.
The results of the survey have shown that presenteeism can be found among 43% of the surveyed employees in primary schools in the primorsko-notranjska statistical region. The survey has shown that more presentism could be found among the surveyed employees with the length of service of less than 5 years compared to the surveyed employees with the length of service of more than 5 years.
With the results of this thesis the actual situation of presenteeism among the surveyed employees in primary schools in the primorsko-notranjska statistical region can be determined. Based on the results of the survey, employees in management positions could use some measures to reduce presenteeism and thus take care of the health of employees.
