The challenge of research is the influencing of activist movements on decision makers on environmental policies. This is a social phenomenon where the experts which is united in activist movements, tries to influence the mindset of political decision makers in the field of the environment. There is established cooperation between public authority and civil society.
In the thesis due to the wide area covered by environmental policies, we have focused exclusively on the field of fisheries policy. We have sensibly linked the theory to the practical example of fisheries policy in the case of two selected countries. We have determined the impact of fishing activist movements in the process of adopting a subordinate legal act of the so-called fishing-breeding plan. We have explored the connection of the political space with concrete activist movement. We defined environmental activist movements and their importance for society. During the research, we determined the individual response rate and activity of the selected country in the field of environmental fisheries policy.
In the thesis, on the basis of the findings, we have demonstrated that the professional views of activist movements in the process of influencing decision makers on environmental policies are crucial for the design of environmental regulations. We have dealt with three hypotheses. The thesis demonstrates its contribution in practical understanding, where the public on cases acquires knowledge, how in the field of the environment cooperates the sectoral politics and activist movements work.
