The diploma thesis deals with the automation of a small business facility with a PLC and KNX communication protocol.
At the beginning of the work, we presented the general importance of automation in history and today and presented the purpose and goals of the diploma thesis.
We started the work with the presentation of the PLC and the KNX protocol. We created a PLC program for controlling heating, cooling and ventilation devices, and with the KNX protocol, we created a system for controlling lighting and acquiring temperature, humidity and carbon dioxide concentration in the premises.
By creating a user interface for a smartphone, we combined the PLC and KNX system into a single system that offers the user simple management and overview of the facility.
In the end, we compared the work with the set goals and compared the automated facility with a smart building. We found that the automation of the facility was successfully realized (in terms of objectives in the planning phase of building automation), but it would be necessary to use more KNX devices and assemble a program capable of machine learning to achieve the smart building principle.
