The recruitment system in Europe has a long history. It has enabled enormous and bloody conflicts that have taken place on European soil and have had a significant impact on the flow of people's lives. The beginnings of recruiting emerge with the development of the first more advanced civilizations, such as ancient Greece and the Roman Empire. Today’s more familiar system dates back to the period of the French Revolution, which was the first to introduce mass mobilization of the population. Since then, recruitment has become almost inseparable from European military as well as wider history.
The work examines the history and development of recruiting in Europe, but the main aim and object of this work is to examine conscript system replenishment. Due to the fact that there are many countries in Europe, the work focuses on selected countries. These are Russia, Ukraine and Latvia. The work outlines the history of the filling system in the selected countries, shows how the selected countries implement a particular filling system today, what are the causes of a particular type of filling in the selected country and the use of recruiters in the armed forces.
