The main role of non-profit organizations is working in the public interest, which means that they are beneficiral to society. Although their existence is important for general public, they are exposed to the problem of precarious employment and unstable financing. The main goal of this final paper is to present the terminology and meaning of non-profit organization, to describe how a non-profit organization works using the practical example of Zveza prijateljev mladine Ljubljana Moste-Polje from the aspect of tradition, regular activites, human resources and financial resources. The main method, used in the final paper, is descriptive method based on the analysis of the resources and information that we statistically processed. We compared the selecter organization with the similar non-profit organizations from abroad and wrote down findings and suggestions for improvements in our chosen organization. The research has shown in the selected non-profit organization, most of the financial resources are provided by the donations of companies and individuals and not by governemnt, and because of that they are exposed to unstable financing. The problem with financial resourses is also reflected in the number of emplyees, which are exposed to precarious employment and replaced by volunteers, because the number of employees depends on financial resources. The research has shown that non-profit organizations are extremely important for the society. The comparison with the foreign non-profit organizations has shown the operation of such organizations abroad. We have also shown some improvements that could be used in non-profit organizations for working even better.
