This diploma paper, which is entitled The children are exploring the history and symbols of our village, consists of theoretical and empirical work. I conducted the empirical research involving ‘Rabbits’ group of kindergarten children. The children were 4-6 years old. The project was finished in 4 weeks and their teacher Tadeja Robnik was pleased to approve of it.
In the theoretical part I described kindergarten learning related to the educational games, what is active learning and characteristics of learning through exploration. I've also included learning by closed-type research that I did myself, and I described the project work in the kindergarten.
The empirical part of this work is based on all the activities we have been doing for four weeks. I have documented every exploration and creating with the children through photographs which have been added to the description of the activities. Weekly evaluations and joint activity evaluation are also described.
While carrying out activities with the children, I have found out how motivated children are to explore and find something new. Children are eager to search for new information, and it is therefore very important that we make it possible for them to explore.
