Introduction: The diploma work presents the orthotics and prosthetics health sciences and the programme of undergraduate studies of orthotics and prosthetics at various universities in the European Union member states. Purpose: The purpose of the diploma work is to review the different forms and contents of the undergraduate study programmes at various universities in the European Union. The enrolment conditions, contents and goals of compared undergraduate programmes of orthotics and prosthetics are presented along with the study opportunities for foreign students Methods: The literature review of available relevant literature and resources in the English and Slovene language was employed in the research. Results: The results of the research provide an insight into the undergraduate study programmes of orthotics and prosthetics and their comparison according to the organization, enrolment conditions, duration, content, implementation the study programme, the tuition fees and the possibilities of postgraduate professional training. Discussion and conclusion: The systematic review of the relevant literature shows that undergraduate programmes of orthotics and prosthetics, which combine medical science with the latest technology, enable future orthotics and prosthetics to gain knowledge and experience with evidence based clinical practice and provide them with the competences to participate in the research. The evaluation and comparison of these programmes confirm that orthotics and prosthetics graduates are independent experts and equal members of the healthcare team who can be employed in clinical settings, educational institutions or research, thus contributing to further development of the profession.
