The master thesis Body Installation – Between Performance and Object presents some personal reflections on my own performative and body art practice, supported by theory and various works from other artists. With each personal work of art I discuss, I set out key elements and themes which correspond to key elements and themes of the performative art and body art starting in the 1960s. Female artists have used specifics from performative art and body art as a part of autobiographical expressions; to distance themselves from conventional frameworks of established art, art history and criticism; to transfer determined structures and for artistic experimentation, as well as to change the set relationship between a woman’s body and an artistic object. By establishing my own performative curve, I want to present my personal artistic language, which is based on my artistic view as a painter on specifics of body art. I direct the attention to body acts, through which I show live images of women frozen in space and running time. This is not possible without the intertwinement of a human and a secondary cultural object, which conveys cultural meanings. Body objectivization ensures a transition from subject to object, and a way of combining performance and an artistic object. I call this kind of combination body installation.
