The thesis shows the process of divorce through the perspective of partners who have children. In the theoretical part, I describe families and parenting, what are the social expectations about the family, family’s life trajectories and divorce. In the theoretical part, I also write about how society sees a divorce of partners who have children, how parents with this experience see it, and how children experience it. I was also interested in the transformation of the family after divorce and how the family adjusts to it. What is different now when partners are no longer in a relationship?
In the empirical part, through a qualitative analysis of eight interviews with divorced partners who have children, I wanted to get a comprehensive view as much as possible of the partner experiencing divorce from the partner and all the changes that it brings with it. I present the results in the following sections: Parental experience of deciding on divorce with the issue of parenthood, their experience when deciding on divorce and their acts, feelings of parents at divorce, the consequences they feel, and maintaining a parental relationship after divorce.
The survey confirms that divorce brings changes for partners who have children. Some lose their sense of security, others lose their economic status. They all said that their children serve as their greatest support. Parents were during the procedure of divorce satisfied with the work on the center for social work. They got the feeling that they are heard and rated, because the center asked them for their opinion on child’s care and education .
