The aim of the thesis was to make a survey of the trees in the town of Logatec and to determine the species, dimension parameters, to estimate their age, the damage to tree habitus and to determine neccessary measures to ensure proper care and maintenance of trees. We inventorized 1141 trees and determined 41 different species. Most of the trees belonged to the Tilia platyphyllos (230 trees) species, followed by Tilia cordata (196 trees). Third most common species was Picea abies (131 trees) and fourth was Acer pseudoplatanus (87 trees). Fruit trees were common as well. We estimated the damage done by the sleet in 2014. On 473 trees (41,7 %) no measure needs to be taken. Tree-crown cleaning needs to be done on 368 trees (32,3 %), 176 trees (15,4 %) need to be replaced with new ones, due to damage. By using aerial LiDAR data we wanted to present a method of remote sensing of tree heights in an urban area. We determined that when using data with low density of returns per m2 we can estimate tree height classes for most of the trees. Small trees and trees in groups cannot be estimated accurately.
