In August 2015 and March 2016 we did a full calipering of forest stands in sections 163D and 163B, which are located in the Lovrenc na Pohorju Forest Management Unit, in silver fir growing sites. The local private forests are traditionally harvested by selection system, smaller spruce (Picea abies) plantations are also common. Current tree diameter structure, basal area, growing stock, species structure, and tree dimension ratio (h/d factor) were determined. Different tree species are distributed differently throughout the diameter levels. Fir and deciduous tree species seem closer to selection forest diameter structure, while spruce diameter structure seems more intermediate. Exceptions are the spruce plantations, where all present tree species have normal diameter distribution, typical of even-aged forest stands. In the last 50 years there was a strong increase in growing stock (from 316 m3/ha to 603 m3/ha) and increase in proportion of deciduous tree species (from 5.7 to 11.7 %). Through processing of LIDAR data, digital models of tree canopies were made.
