Diploma thesis was made in a river Mirna at dolenjska region. River is an interesting fishing zone, where the Eurasian otter (Lutra lutra L.) is present. Because of the conflictive nature of the species, diet habits were analysed. That will help us better understand feeding habits of the otters in the study area. We collect 86 spraints. Fish were most common food category in otters diet (77 %). We find significant differences in the upper and lower part of the river and also some seasonal differeces. Cyprinids were most common fish category (45,1 %). Important source of prey are also frogs (9,3 %) and crayfish (Austropotamobius torrentium) (4,9 %). Using trail cameras we studied day-night activity of the species, hunting habits and territorial behaviour. We find out that otters in the area are night active. We also analysed mortality of a longer period. Because of the mortality rate getting higher every year, we can inderectly claime that the population of otters is getting stronger.
