Abstract

Title:Assesment of forest stand structure in the forest reserve Ždrocle
Abstract:
In this diploma thesis, the stand structure of the forest reserve Ždrocle, which is located in the south of the Snežnik massif and covers the surface of 167,01 hectares, is evaluated. 18 permanent sampling plots were set up, of either 5 ares, where the characteristics of the living trees were observed, or7 ares, where the focus was on the characteristics of those that had alreadydied off. The density of the sampling network added up to 500 x 200 metres. There is an average of 576 trees on one hectare of the reserve, the most common tree species being beech (82%) and Norway spruce (12%). The average growing stock in the Ždrocle reserve adds up to 345,5 m3/ha. The trees with medium-long crowns, which show strong vitality, are mainly located in the upper layer. The main cause of damage are abiotic factors, however 92 %of the trees are undamaged.
