Abstract

Title:Successional vegetation development on selected deforested areas of Mežakla and Perniki
Abstract:
The thesis presents the succession vegetation development in deforested areas after the spruce bark beetle outbreak in the years 2007 - 2013. Field work was performed at one forest gap on Mežakla, as well as two enclosed and two unenclosed gaps on Perniki. On Perniki, 62 different plant species were identified, while 105 different plant species were identified on Mežakla. This indicates a greater diversity of herb layer on the carbonate bedrock of Mežakla, compared to acidophile forest on Perniki. The impact of herbivorous wild game on rejuvenation (natural and artificial) in selected areas was also studied. Within tree natural regeneration on Mežakla beech is dominant. Severe consequences of deer browsing, i.e. damage were observed. The tree regeneration of Perniki is dominated by spruce. The least damage caused by deer browsing was observed in the enclosures of Perniki.
