The forest certification promotes a sustainable management, as well as a chain of custody from the certificated wood to the final wooden product. The forest certification is performed through the management compliance assessment conducted by an independent certification institution that verifies the compliance with principles of the certification scheme. In our research, the compliance of state forest management of the Farmland and Forest Fund of the Republic of Slovenia according to the requirements of FSC standard was analysed. By applying certification reports, the non-compliance and consequently corrective action requests were studied during the first and the second period of the certificate validity. On the basis of the results of the analysis of corrective action requests throughout the certificate validity period, it was established that the compliance of sustainable state forest management according to the FSC principles and criteria increased. Two corrective action requests of major deviation from Principle 1 (Compliance with laws and Principles) and Principle 9 (Maintenance of high conservation value forests) occurred in 2010. However, during the remaining validity period, the corrective action requests of minor deviations and preconditions took place. In the recent years, only the corrective action requests of minor deviations from Principle 4 (Community relations and worker%s rights) were noticed.
