Abstract
Kolekcija temelji na sestavljanju grafičnih vzorcev in na barvnih kontrastih, urejenih v sodobne in sveže kompozicije.

Title:Sampling of knitted fabrics and structured jacquard patterns for a knitwear collection
Abstract:
The purpose of the master’s thesis with the title Sampling of Knitted Fabrics and Structured Jacquard Patterns for a Knitwear Collection is to present ways of colour and structure sampling of weft-knits, to define the jacquard pattern in visual terms, to study the history of knitwear and fashion of knitwear, and to create a collection of knit jacquard patterns for outer knitwear. The thesis presents research and experiments as regards both colours and combinations of various designs. Colour and pattern combinations are derived from the knitwear and patterns dating to the 1970s and 1980s. The collection is mainly based on outwear, with a special focus on sweater. Sweaters featuring diverse patterns were typical of the time; not only fashion designers but also women who knitted for themselves and for their families started to prefer such sweaters as a reaction to the mass production of monochrome knitwear of the time. The inspiration for the collection came from the time when the use of domestic knitting machines became very widespread. This was a time when, due to an increased demand for knitwear, magazines with instructions for knitting popular models started to appear. The collection is based on assembling designs and on colour contrasts arranged so as to create latest compositions. The tradition of using domestic knitting machines has been preserved up to the present day, the time of state-of-the-art production and the latest fashion of knitwear. By combining both colour and structure samples it is possible to create an appearance of individuality and, as a result, of uniqueness.
