After the economic crisis in Slovenia, the number of socially deprived families, unemployed, single mothers, etc. has increased and therefore, the Centers for Social Work (CSW) mostly focused on offering social financial assistance, and in some cases they also encountered other needs that come from the external environment. All these funds, which are then allocated to socially deprived persons, come from the state, public funds. Funds for the financing of social welfare activities are also provided by the payment of services, with contributions from charity organizations and self-help organizations and disability organizations, donor contributions and other sources.
The purpose of the bachelor thesis is to present the operation and financing of public institutions, with an emphasis on the presentation of the CSW. In addition, the purpose of the thesis is to present in more detail the funding sources of CSW Ljubljana Šiška and the amount of funds for financial social assistance, as well as present the results, findings and suggestions for improvement to the employees of the selected CSW.
The goals of the bachelor thesis are to find out what are the key sources of CSW’s funding, to analyze the sources of financing on the concrete case CSW Ljubljana Šiška, to find out what amount of funds they are devoting to social financial assistance and to provide guidelines on how to increase these funds on a concrete case.
In the theoretical part of the thesis a descriptive method is used, based on secondary sources. In the empirical part, the case study was produced by collecting data and making a comparative analysis.
On the basis of the literature review and collected data analysis in the case study, it is found that the Centre for Social Work has a major role at the aid of socially deprived persons and that a significant share of funding is intended for its operation.
