We investigated if spruce, beec and oak wood can be stained with selected natural dyes, if naturally stained wood is appropriate for application of commercial surface finish, and what is the response of colour of wood that was stained with natural dyes on exposure to UV light. Pomegranate juice, coffe, green tea and red wine were selected as natural dyes. We found out that these natural dyes are appropriate for thr investigated use, because the wood achieved very nice colours after applying them. In addition it was established that the naturally stained wood could be finished with polyurethane coating without any problems.
