This master's thesis deals with the process of transforming the existing local energy supply into a sustainable supply based on renewable energy resources. The municipality of Jezersko was selected as the study area. The master's thesis also presents the forest as a renewable energy resource available in the study area. As currently, the main objective of the Jezersko municipality is to establish a woody biomass district heating, in the thesis we calculated the potential of woody biomass in the study area to operate the planned boiler room as well as for independent heating of other facilities. Based on literature review, calculations and production of cartographic material, we presented the functions and ownership structure of the forest and the potential of woody biomass for the self-sufficiency of the municipality in the field of heating. We found that the potential of woody biomass is greater than necessary, but only when obtaining timber from the area of all three ownership groups (private owners, the state, local community). By conducting semi-structured interviews and an online survey, we gained insight into the opinion of some key stakeholders and residents of Jezersko and thus the social aspect of the transition to renewable energy. Namely, effective organization and cooperation of stakeholders at local as well as national level and sustainable management of the local forest resource are needed.
