Abstract
Pri tem diplomskem delu bomo spoznali, še dokaj novo idejo uporabe materialov, kjer njihove lastnosti ne izhajajo iz kemijske sestave, ampak iz strukture. Osnovno načelo metamaterialov je, da takšnih materialov ne najdemo v naravi in da so umetno izdelani. Začetek diplomskega dela obsega začetke nastanka ideje o negativnem lomnem količniku, preko katerega je zatem izšla teoretična ideja in eksperimentalno dokazovanje le-te. Ogledali si bomo tudi nekaj primerov uporabe. Primere praktične uporabe in primere teoretičnih idej, ki veliko obljubljajo v komercialni rabi. Predstavili bomo tudi zakonitosti po katerih delujejo.

Title:Review, history and use of metamaterials
Abstract:
In this paper we will get to know a fairly new idea of using materials where their properties do not originate from chemical composition but from their structure. The basic principle of metamaterials is that such materials are not found in nature and are artificially made. The beginning of the diploma consists of the beginnings of the emergence of the idea of a negative refractive index, through which the theoretical idea and the experimental proof of it that was subsequently published. We will also look at some examples of usage. Examples of practical applications and examples of theoretical ideas that promise much in commercial use. We will also present the laws under which they operate.
