Social media sites gather millions of people around the world, most of whom use them every day. It allows users to present themselves in front of their friends, expand the group of friends and maintain relations with them. Even though social media sites introduce significant positive changes, they completely redefined social dynamics and brought certain negative effects, too.
An increase in the use of social media sites within young people has, therefore, been the subject of debate since they are in the process of forming their own identity and acquiring social norms. Considering their widespread use and the time they spend on social media, it is important to research the effects it has on their social life and mental states. This master thesis aims to investigate the relationship between social media sites and anxiety among teenagers.
