The objective of the Master's thesis was to create a new website of the Court of Audit of the Republic of Slovenia. I started by researching the needs of the client, users and analysing the old existing website. Based on the results of the Web analytics, I defined seven target groups of users and their key needs. I made a heuristic analysis of the existing website and compared it with other similar newer sites. Other methods used were an employee survey and interviews with journalists, auditors in public administration and in the commercial sector and making of personas. The result of the analysis was a table of proposed changes made from key analysis findings that served me as a key document for coordinating project implementation and communicating with all actors on the project: leadership, procurement contract administrators, content writers, programmers and proofreaders, translators and me, the designer.
Based on the findings I designed a new information architecture, website building blocks system, and visual elements of the new Court of Auditors website. I tested my work during the design process with two prototypes – firstly, the prototype of the information architecture and secondly the prototype of the site during the design of website's visual elements. In parallel, I also tested the performance of the wireframe model and the use of individual components. The new site was created with the aim of being user-friendly and functional, intertwined in the internal processes of the institution and outwardly communicating the institutions strategic goals.
