Abstract

Abstract:
Through the course of my education I have arrived at a conclusion that students had often lost motivation for the follow-up work after classes, which led us not receiving the desired grades, which could have been obtained, had the appropriate follow-up work been done. With the rating system, some sort of competition among the students is introduced. With it individuals might find new motivation, since we live in an environment where everyone wants to be the best. The solution will affect teachers and teaching assistants as well. When choosing a task, we can deduce, with the help of rating, whether the task is too demanding or not difficult enough for the solver – the student. Making an exam or a test is made easier as well. If using the set of existing questions the person who composes an exam can receive an assessment of the difficulty of the test before the exam has been graded. This was not possible without the application, as the person had to assess the chosen exercises in the test on his/her own, and was able to deduce the difficulty of the exam only from its results. With this application, we have made it possible for students to take different tests of similar difficulty. With the help of rating students receive the much-needed information about their knowledge. This way they can prepare for the tests better, as they can continuously access the information whether their level of knowledge is high enough for the grades that they want to achieve or not. The above reasons led us to add the rating system into the eQuiz application. The result of the diploma paper is therefore the upgraded web application eQuiz, which, in addition to the existing functions – taking quizzes, exams, and surveys, also enables the rating system. It shows the difficulty of the problems and the level of knowledge of the problem solvers.
