Objavljanje selfijev na socialnih omrežjih v povezavi s psihičnim blagostanjem in samozaznavo na prehodu v odraslost

Abstract
Selfiji so postali tako velik globalen fenomen, da je Oxfordov slovar besedo »selfie« leta 2013 označil kot besedo leta, njihova priljubljenost pa z leti še narašča. Raziskave so pokazale, da so med fotografijami, objavljenimi na socialnih omrežjih, selfiji ena izmed najbolj priljubljenih vrst objavljenih fotografij in da so mladi primarni izdelovalci selfijev. V svoji magistrski nalogi sem preučevala povezavo pogostosti objavljanja selfijev na socialnih omrežjih, pripisovanje pomembnosti povratnih informacij na objavljene selfije (komentarji in všečki) in različnih motivov za objavljanje selfijev s psihičnim blagostanjem, zadovoljstvom z življenjem, narcisizmom kot osebnostno potezo in samospoštovanjem pri mladih na prehodu v odraslost v Sloveniji. Ugotovljeno je bilo, da nižje zaznana osebnostna rast pri udeležencih napoveduje bolj pogosto objavljanje selfijev. Bolj avtonomne osebe pripisujejo povratnim informacijam na objavljene selfije manjšo pomembnost. Tiste osebe, ki čutijo da imajo bolj zaupne in zadovoljive odnose z drugimi, bi želeli dobre medosebne odnose obdržati tudi v prihodnje, zato pripisujejo povratnim informacijam, ki jih dobijo s strani drugih ljudi večjo pomembnost. Tudi višje izražen narcisizem kot osebnostna poteza napoveduje pripisovanje večje pomembnosti povratnim informacijam na objavljene selfije. Osebe, ki so na splošno bolj zadovoljne s svojim življenjem in osebe, ki imajo bolj izražen občutek osebnostne rasti in kontinuiranega razvoja, manj pogosto objavljajo selfije z namenom iskanja pozornosti. Slabše zaznano obvladovanje okolja in večji občutek smisla življenja pa pri udeležencih napoveduje bolj pogosto objavljanje selfijev zaradi ovekovečenja. V prihodnje bi bilo dobro raziskavo izvesti v več državah z različnimi starostnimi skupinami ter morda izvesti študijo, v kateri bi pridobili spletne račune udeležencev, preverjali število objavljenih selfijev v primerjavi z ostalimi objavljenimi fotografijami na spletu in preučevali ostala vedenja v povezavi z objavljanjem selfijev in ne le raziskavo, ki temelji na samoporočanju.

Title:Posting selfies on social media, psychological well-being and self-perception in early adulthood
Abstract:
Selfies have become such a big global phenomenon, that in the year 2013 the Oxford dictionary marked the word »selfie« as the word of the year, and it's popularity is still increasing. Research has shown that among the photographs, which are posted on social media, selfies are one of the most popular types of posted photographs and that primerly young poeple are making and posting selfies. In my master's thesis I examined the correlation between selfie posting frequency, the importance of feedback, given to posted selfies (likes and comments) and diffrent motives for posting selfies on social media with psychological well-being and life satisfaction, narcissism as a personality trait and self-esteem among young people in early adulthood in Slovenia. My research has shown that lower personal growth predicts more frequent selfie posting on social media. More autonomous people give less importance to the feedback of their posted selfies. People who feel they have more intimate and satisfying relationships with others, want to keep the already existing good relationships in the future, that is why they give more importance to the feedback of their posted selfies. Also higher narcissism as a personality trait predicts giving more importance to the feedback of their posted selfies. People who are generally more satisfied with their lives and people with higher personal growth, less often post selfies because of attention seeking. Having less control of the environment and feeling a greater meaning of life, predicts more frequent selfie posting because of archiving. In the future it would be good to do the research in different countries and with different age groups and maybe do a study, where we could get online accounts of the participants, check the number of selfies in comparison to the total number of photos posted online and examine other selfie posting behaviour and not just a research, based on participant's self-reporting.
