This master%s thesis is dealing with the characteristics of adult education in Russia and Slovenia in the mid-twentieth century. For the already mentioned countries this era is at first characterized by close cooperation and friendly relations that later turns into frank political opposition and a completely separate development in all fields. This includes the field of education, which represented the apparatus of the state in the struggle with the introduction of a new social order and a new value system. In theoretical part, we first present the role of adult education in today's world, the historical development of adult education in both countries, education for women and the development of the science of andragogy in Russia and Slovenia. In the empirical part, we describe four indicators that further more show even more clearly and concisely the course of adult education in Russia and Slovenia in the mid-twentieth century.
