The purpose of the thesis is to explore some of the subcultural characteristics of football fan groups. This thesis deals with the development and categorization of football fans, the characteristics of the fan group, the issue of social affiliation and fan identity. The first part deals with the concept of subculture as a basic concept of exploration. This is followed by its application and adaptations to the topic investigated. In the second part, the thesis deals with fan development, different fan typologies, fan group structure. The final part, however, explores the affiliation and reasons for belonging to the football fan group. The task consists of theoretical and empirical works, which are intertwined. The empirical part was designed with the help of i.e. participatory observations where five interviews were conducted with Green Dragons supporters. The task explores the general characteristics of football fan groups and supports them with examples of the Slovenian Green Dragons football fan group.
