The thesis analyses the autobiographical work of Mémoires d'une jeune fille rangée, which covers a detailed description of the first twenty years of the life of the French writer, philosopher and feminist, Simone de Beauvoir. I will focus on the period of her childhood, adolescence, and the transition into adulthood. These periods are crucial for the development of an individual's personality. I will analyse how various factors and individuals have influenced the writer's personal, spiritual and intellectual path. Family, education, religion, first friendships and love all play an important role in her memoirs. Before becoming a celebrated writer, an existentialist philosopher and an avid feminist, Simone de Beauvoir had to overcome many social obstacles and personal dilemmas that prevented her from pursuing her career goals.
