In the master's thesis the author researched the experiencing of relationships in the primary family in persons convicted of crimes against sexual integrity against an adult. In the theoretical part of the master’s thesis the author defined the role and importance of family and upbringing, reciprocal relationships and two important categories she selected – parental responsiveness and presence. Then she presented the definition and worked out the types of sexual offenses, defined the characteristics of sexual offenders and the aspects that drive them into such acts. In addition, the author also highlighted the importance of the sexual offenders’ families of origin and the relationships with their parents or caretaker. In the empirical part she used a qualitative method, namely the phenomenological psychological method. Data were collected based on semi-structured individual interviews with five participants convicted of sexual assault against an adult. The results of the research concluded that experiencing difficulties in primary relationships had a significant impact on their actions in adulthood. An overly caring, protective mother and an absent father were typical for their childhood. Through this period of their lives the participants also witnessed disorderly, conflictual and tense relationships between their parents, in which in most cases the father used aggressive, violent forms of punishment.
