The master's thesis shows the extent to which the targets of the Europe 2020 Strategy have been achieved in Slovenia and the Nordic countries and their comparison between 2010 and 2017. In accordance with the Europe 2020 strategy, Slovenia and the Nordic countries have adopted the concept of smart, sustainable and inclusive growth in order to increase competitiveness and economic growth. The Europe 2020 strategy serves as a development blueprint for EU Member States and helps them to pursue their goals.
The purpose was to evaluate the objectives achieved by the countries concerned to increase employment, reduce social exclusion, increase R&D expenditure and create a resource-efficient green economy. The aim was to present an assessment of the progress made by the compared countries, as the assessment not only helps us identify good practices but also prevents the same mistakes. Performance indicators are presented using the compilation and synthetic methods, and the set and planned targets are shown by ordinary least squares regression. Using a regression analysis, we have found that the countries concerned are making progress in implementing the European Development Program. Despite the progress made by countries, the strategy needs to be further adjusted and coordinated at national and European level in order to achieve the desired targets by 2020.
