The main issue concerning safety and health at work regards accidents, which are the consequence of inadequate concentration during the working process, the lack of focus or accessing the prohibited and danger zones of equipment. In relation to this subject matter a survey research was performed at Fructal d.d. Ajdovščina, which was aimed at establishing the actual situation relating to the area of safety and health at the company’s manufacturing plant in order to propose suggestions for improvements to the management.
The theoretical part of the diploma thesis presents the main points of safety and health at work. In addition to this, an anonymous survey questionnaire is developed, which consists of closed-ended questions. The opinions of the employees gathered by the questionnaire are graphically presented and interpreted in the research part of the thesis. On the basis of the collected data it was possible to confirm one of the two hypotheses posed in the first part of the diploma thesis.
The survey performed at the company’s manufacturing plant shows that the group organises work-related courses and trainings, which are regularly attended by its employees, provides for appropriate working space conditions, as well as ensures uninterrupted production process and correct operation of the equipment. The answers reveal only slight dissatisfaction with working conditions and available first-aid facilities, but in general the employees report satisfaction with the level of work safety and working conditions.
Safety and health at work provided by management of production companies is of major importance to employees. A safe and healthy workplace guarantees that employees are more relaxed, efficient and motivated for work, tend to take their own-initiatives and are more satisfied with their job. This results in a reduced risk of injuries and accidents at work, which contributes to lower absenteeism rate and higher cost savings for companies in case of sick leaves due to injuries.
