The thesis presents the current state of tree natural values in the Vipava Valley region. In practice, tree natural values, as well as others, are dealt with by the Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Nature Conservation. According to the Registry of Natural Values, there are 24 trees in the Vipava Valley, protected as tree natural values. The aim of this thesis was to examine the state of the trees, re-gauge their girth and height, and compare the newly acquired data with the last survey carried out by the Institute. The trees have acquired girth and weight. One of the parts of the thesis focuses on the new inspection of the area with the aim of finding new trees which meet the criteria of tree natural values and which would consequently be suitable to be included in the natural values list. Forest land, agricultural areas, and urban environment field work resulted in finding 56 suitable trees, 26 of which were found in the forest. The gathered data was compared with the tree natural values data for entire Slovenia. The results will be of help to the Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Nature Conservation, since the data which we have gathered contributes to the Institute’s work and shows the shortcomings of the natural values list in comparison to the actual state concurrently.
