Abstract

Title:Conditions for fish in aqariums
Abstract:
Aquaristics is becoming a widespread way of farming fish in aquariums. The market for fish, whether freshwater, marine or tropical, is growing significantly. Since animals are taken from the natural environment, we must provide them conditions same to those they have in nature. Important breeding conditions are: adequate water with a specific pH for a different species, soft or hard water appropriate for each species, a minimum of 8 hours of light with adequate light intensity, both for plants and for fish, filtration and regular cleaning of the whole aquarium, appropriate temperature, added microorganisms that assist in biological processes such as the denitrification of ammonia to nitrates, planting plants that give the fish a hiding place and oxygen. If we create conditions similar to natural ones, we can improve the well-being of fish and theirs quality of life. The task was to determine which conditions must be provided in the aquarium to make them suitable for fish farming, and what problems occurring in captive fish farming occur ethically worldwide. Based on the given information, we assume that the fish breeding in the aquarium is considered appropriate and provides animal welfare, if the aquarium contains: adequate water temperature, adequately large space, necessary water properties, good quality and appropriate quantity of food, adequate lighting, aquarium filtration, number of animals and plants, proper aquarium maintenance, and fish care without added chemicals, surgeries, tattooing, and color injection.
