The fieldwork include the installation of new rain gauge data loggers at three locations in Slovenia, two in Koroška region and one in Tolmin region. Data from newly installed rain gauge data loggers and the data from the rainfall stations of the Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for environment were compared and used in further calculations. Our study revealed that rainfall varies between compared locations and that the distance between locations does not affect semivariance of precipitation. The runoff Q100 were calculated using empirical equations according to Iszkowski, where annual rainfall data is considered, and using Kresnik calculation, where rainfall data is not considered. There are differences among the calculations of Q100, which depend on the annual rainfall. Differences in Q100 affect the sizing of torrential barriers.
