The trend of the construction and renovation of buildings goes in the direction of better energy efficiency and reduction of the impact on the environment. Thermal insulation is added to older constructions in order to achieve this, since they typically do not contain it, or there is not enough of it to achieve desired thermal conductance. It is also necessary to ensure quality interior living environment during building restoration process.
Described above was the main reason for my thesis, in which I wanted to renovate the building envelope of a single-family house, located in Podgorje near Slovenj Gradec. I calculated the building-physics parameters and parameters of the internal environment quality for existing construction systems (exterior wall, the underfround exterior wall, floor on the ground, the attic floor, wall against cold room, the ground against the cold room). These parameters are: thermal transmittance, condensation of water vapour, time of drying, time lag, decrement factor, the inner surface temperature and its relative humidity and heat capacity. I used a software tool U-wert for those calculations.
Solutions to the existing construction systems were suggested and building-physics parameters and indoor environmental quality of the proposed solutions were calculated in the second part of the thesis. All the results were compared with legal requirements and recommendations.
