In the first part of the master's thesis analysis of a database where recorded fires in buildings in Slovenia from 2005 onward is presented. The fires are classified by causes of occurrence and statistical analysis is performed. The fire statistics is divided into three parts. The first according to time of occurrence (year, month and hour), the second according to the type of building in which fires occurred (residential, non-residential) and the third according to municipalities (fire hazard was compared between municipalities). The causes of fires were also included in all three parts of the statistical analyses.
In the second part of the master's thesis we focused on determining the fire load for the buildings which proved to be have highest fire risk according to the analysis in the first part. We presented the procedure for determining the heat release rate curve. Based on the already conducted research and simulations of fires in buildings that have been running since 1970, we have produced a spreadsheet with recommended values of the fire load density for several different types of buildings. Presented spreadsheet can be easily used to design relevant fire scenarios in buildings and related numerical simulations of fire development
