The diploma thesis, Preforming figuralism in Expressionism and in Brutus Art, consists of theoretical and practical part with the intention of representing the study of the body in expressionist painting and Brutus Art movement in Europe and in my own creations.
The first part is a study of the art directions of Expressionism and the Art Brutus movement, with their common characteristics, development and most prominent representatives in Europe.
Through examples of paintings analysis was made of how painters depicted the body in both painting directions.
The second part shows analysis and comparison of my own painting practice of portraying figurines in correlation with the above Art directions.
The main goal of the diploma thesis is to analyse the characteristics of Expressionism and Brutus Art, to present their manifestations within the art of painting and to explore how these elements are influencing my own artistic path.
