This thesis presents an overview of the development of architectural museums and exhibitions since their beginning till today. The work is divided into three parts. The first one is a historical overview of architectural museums and exhibitions, the second one deals with topics and questions of contemporary architectural exhibitions and the third part presents two case studies of an architectural exhibition for a better illustration and a more precise analysis of one type of presenting architecture. The collections of architectural museums as well as architectural exhibitions always had a very important influence on the further development of architecture. They were crucial for the shaping and establishing a new style or a certain architect. In this regard it was important that the architecture was presented in a way that created a sense of its spaciousness and that also got the visitors attention. By trying to achieve that, the curators of the exhibitions have always faced the same challenge – how to present architecture despite the fact that it can't be physically relocated inside of an exhibition hall. This led to a development of different exhibition practices, which I discuss in my thesis.
